ISSUE - Adobe Analytics / Power BI connector limitations

We are trying to connect either a Power BI dataflow or a Dataverse Dataflow to the Adobe Analytics connector in order to query our intranet's data. If we try to select more than 4 dimensions, the connector gives us an error that it will not allow more than 4 dimensions to be added.

We checked with Adobe directly and they said that it's not a limitation of the Adobe Analytics platform, they said that it's a limitation of the connectors for Power BI or Dataverse... they suggested having this raised with Microsoft to have addressed. Has anyone else had this issue and if so, were you able to get past this?

Hi @Danworld,

Currently, we do have some limitations and issues on Azure Analytics connector.

  • Adobe Analytics has a built-in limit of 50 K rows returned per API call.
  • If the number of API calls exceeds four per second, a warning will be issued. If the number exceeds five per second, an error message will be returned.
  • The API request timeout through adobe.io is currently 60 seconds.
  • The default rate limit for an Adobe Analytics Company is 120 requests per minute per user (the limit is enforced as 12 requests every 6 seconds).

Import from Adobe Analytics will stop and display an error message whenever the Adobe Analytics connector hits any of the API limits listed above.

When accessing your data using the Adobe Analytics connector, follow the guidelines provide under the Best Practices heading.

For the removal or reduction on the limitations, you could vote for similar ideas in Power BI Ideas. It’s a place the product group collects the suggestions to improve this product.

Hi @Danworld were you able to find a solution? I used the Adobe native connector but I had some issues from time to time. As a workaround, maybe you can try connecting your data with a 3rd party connector. I've tried windsor.ai , supemetrics (which doesn't has PBI as a destination, so you first have to export to Google Sheets and then export to PBI) and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder,  to make the connection first search for the Adobe connector in the data sources list:

ADOBE-1.png

Then, you should enter your Adobe credentials to make the connection. After that, you'll see a preview of your data where you can select the fields you want to see in PBI.

ADOBE-2.png

Finally, you just have to choose PBI as destination and copy and paste the url that will appear there in PBI desktop --> Get Data --Web > --> Paste the link
