Expired Sessions and Lag

Our team has been using PowerBI for reporting and running queries for about a year and a half now and everyone on our team noticed that our sessions expire while running queries after I believe about a half hour for lack of use. So if you leave the query dormant for about a half out and then try to change criteria for a new query search you receive a messation that the session has expired and you have to exit the query and then launch it again.   Additionally there is a major lag when running the reports where at times it times out before pulling the data.

I don't know if this is a known issue and if so, hopefully a fix is in the works but wanted to post it here.  Hopefully this is the right place of where to post issues with PowerBI.

Hi @saltlife ,

This is by design. For protection, during normal communication, your access token will be sent to the authentication server to verify your identity.  Within a short period of time, the token will expire and an error response will be sent and the client web application will respond by using the refresh token to generate a new access token and refresh the session. Once the refresh token expires, then the user must perform a full login again to renew it.

Of course, there are also problems caused by permission issues, but it seems to be different from your case, you can refer to Your Power BI Session Expired message
