Power BI Desktop is stuck in initial loading screen.

Hi, I am seeing an issue where new users who download Power BI Desktop from the Microsoft Store are not able to open the program or view any files.  Their attempts seemto get stuck in the initial Program Loading Screen.

Does anyone have an idea what may be going on?

Status: Investigating

Did multiple processes running in the background at the same time or did these pc meet the minimum requirements to run Power BI Desktop? See: Minimum requirements

In addition, have you tried to download Power BI Desktop from web page to check whether these pc could open it? Below is the web page link that you can try:

All of the PC's in the company should meet spec for running the Desktop App.  I know the one end user I have been talking with his machine does. I will chekc to make sure that this is not an issue due to background processes running, however It seems unlikely as I am now getting reports of issues from multiple users and in a variety of scenarios.

I will pass the link along to the end users and see if they have any luck with that thanks!

I've tried anything in the community but none of them works.

This is the only solution that works for me.

  1. Close Power BI Desktop.

  2. Open Windows Settings > About > Advanced system settings and select Environment Variables.

  3. Select New under User variables and add variable name WEBVIEW2_ADDITIONAL_BROWSER_ARGUMENTS with the value --disable-features=RendererCodeIntegrity.
  4. Start Power BI Desktop and verify that it starts successfully this time.

  5. Delete the environment variable you set.
