Critical .pbix failure: Database consistency checks failed... error occurred while loading Vertipaq

I receive the following error attempting to open a .pbix file I've been working on for months, just saved & closed it about an hour ago and now I can't open it:

Little bit scary.

I've pasted the contents of the error below, as suggested. Anything obvious I can do/try here?

Hi @jasonnaylor

Looks like your .pbix model has been broken. Did this issue happened in each .pbix file or just a special one?

Here is a workaround from PG that you can try:

- start Desktop
- find the corresponding workspace folder
- set Vertipaq\DisableConsistencyChecks to 1 in msmdsrv.ini
- open the problematic report
- probably a simple refresh would fix the IMBI dictionaries; OR export as PBIT and reopen as usual

Hey @v-yetao1-msft this is very promising and thanks for responding, just one question!

When you say "- find the corresponding workspace folder" and edit the msmdsrv.ini file I'm assuming you mean something like this:

C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop\AnalysisServicesWorkspaces\AnalysisServicesWorkspace_4f92daed-35b5-4f5e-aa50-7138630fe7d7\Data\msmdsrv.ini

I opened and had a peek in that file, there is no <DisableConsistencyChecks> object in there. I added one in, but still didn't help.

I found some other objects in that file and I changed the value of those but still no luck.

I like where this is going though. Did I find the correct file, and is there a reason I don't have the <DisableConsistencyChecks> node in my file?

I had the same experience of not having that section, too @jasonnaylor. I am stuck!

I was having this issue too with a large pbix file. I noticed that the disk space on the PC I was using was low and, when I opened the file in Power BI Desktop on a PC with plenty of available disk space the file opened with no issue.
