Can no longer connect to Azure Data Lake Gen 2

Hello,

My data source is ADLS Gen 2, which was working find up until September 16. Now I get a non-descript error when trying to connect to the datasource from Power BI desktop. The published report is refreshing without an issue, so it seems specific to desktop.

Also, when trying to refresh the data in desktop, it gives this error:

Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Mashup.Cdm.ICdmProvider, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Any help would be appreciated - I'm supposed to get this report out and I'm dead in the water!

Hi  @WomanToBlame

Can you create a new report with Azure Data Lake Gen 2 normally ? Or does this problem occur in the specified report ?

Hello Ailsa Tao,

It also happens when creating a new report. This is specifically when using "CDM Folder View". "File System View" connects. I believe the error message below is the heart of the issue, but not sure how to remedy it. I've opened a MS support ticket.

Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Mashup.Cdm.ICdmProvider, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Any update on this issue; I am also encountering the same issue and get the same error.

Brand new file connecting to Azure Data Lake Gen 2 in PBI Desktop with CDM.  "File System View" works correctly as does using CDM in dataflow on app service.

Hi @brendan_w_FWM ,

It suddenly corrected itself yesterday. Both CDM view and refreshing is working now.  Not sure if maybe a hotfix was pushed out. I'm currently on version 2.121.762.0 64-bit (September 2023)

* I see in my initial post that I encountered this issue on 2.121.662.0

I am experiencing the same issue and it is of course blocking me on delivering a report to a client. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Power BI which did not fix the issue.

Can you guys PLEASE stop release updates with big bugs in them? There are a ton in this last release. We are not your guinea pigs guys. We are serving clients and many of them are cranky excutives.
