Slicer Search Text Disappearing for Custom Sorted Data after Hide/Show

When using a Slicer and toggling the Search functionality, the text typed in the search section should filter the selectable options based the the text typed. This functionality has a bug when using Search on a Slicer for data that is custom sorted and then hidden and shown.

If you use type into the slicer search box of custom sorted data, "hide" the slicer, and then"show" the visual, the slicer options will remain filtered based on the text previously typed in the search section, but the text you had typed disappears.

Hiding and showing slicers with custom sorts should not lose the text previously typed into the search section of the slicer. It is causing confusion for our users because the slicer is effectively filtered on hidden text.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Do you mean the field added into slicer is custom sorted by other field? What do you mean "hide" the slicer, "show" the visual? Please provide detailed repro steps.

Best regards,

Do you mean the field added into slicer is custom sorted by other field?

Yes. We are using another field as a ranker to effectively create a custom sort.

What do you mean "hide" the slicer, "show" the visual? Please provide detailed repro steps.

Sorry. This was misleading wording. By "hide" and "show" the slicer, I am refering to using the functionality found on the Selection Pane.

The wording should have read  "hide the slicer, and then show the slicer?" All action revolves around a single slicer, no other visuals are used.

Detailed steps below

Slicer in Question:

Click Drop Down:

Type Text in Search Bar (List is filtered):

Hide the Slicer using Selection Pane:

Show Slicer using Selection Pane:

Bug. When using drop down again, the search text is gone, but slicer selectiosn are still filtered. This is misleading to users.

Let me know if more details are needed.

I would be happy for a Clear button to be included in the Search Field of the Visualisation.

This solution may not be applicable in the hide/show senarion but would make it a little more user friendly
