Hi,
In February Microsoft announced the much awaited functionality that you could refresh queries combining data from on-premises and cloud data sources with the Power BI on-premises data Gateway! I’m just wondering if this have an impact on any type of cost related to cloud sources being allowed to refresh through the gateway?
To enable the combined refresh, you have to check box a setting in the gateway cluster that says “Allow user’s cloud data sources to refresh through this gateway cluster. These cloud data sources do not need to be configured under this gateway cluster”.

Even though the cloud sources will not be configured through the gateway, will it inflict any additional cost on cloud sources by enabling this setting? I.e. are you only paying for throughout in Azure, and not for anything going through the gateway?
Hi @morbu,
It's just a new feature. Power BI won't ask extra payments. If you refresh the dataset in a high frequency, there could be more cost in the Azure, which depends on how the Azure charges the resources.
Best Regards,
Dale
Okey that's good to know. What's high frequency @v-jiascu-msft? The dataset would refresh daily
