Hello. I'm trying to refresh an OBDC data source using an On-Premises Gateway (standard mode). Unfortunately I am experiencing the following error message: ODBC: ERROR [08001] FATAL: too many connections for role. I have already followed the instructions available here:
https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Service/Disable-parallel-loading-of-tables-in-web-published-report/... and I can get the data to refresh fine using the Personal Mode gateway..... any ideas :(?? I'd like to use the standard mode so other people can also refresh reports.

Hi @kellzp22 ,
In some cases, on-premises gateway doesn't support OAuth type authentication, only personal gateway can be used. It depends on the type and source of the data source.
Here is a similar case, which provides a solution and can be used as a reference first: Solved: Schedule Refresh with ODBC Source - Microsoft Power BI Community
If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information and let me know immediately. Looking forward to your reply.

Henry

Is this an import mode or direct query connection?
I'm not sure how to check this on Service... but desktop confirms import mode (i'm assuming Service would be the same??).
