If we create a private network connection form our organization to Power BI with ExpressRoute, do we still need the On-premises Data Gateway?
Solved! Go to Solution.
With Power BI and ExpressRoute, you can bypass the Internet to better secure your sensitive Power BI data and connections. But before users can connect to your on-premises data source, an on-premises data gateway still needs to be installed and configured.

I need someone to help me understand how I can configure the on-premises data gateway to use an existing ExpressRoute exclusively for PowerBI. Here is what I know. In order to use the ExR we will need to setup Microsoft Peering to connect to MS services like PowerPlatform. I'm not interested in clients connecting to PowerBI through the ExR but just to make sure the Data GW doesn't send data over the Internet. How can I confgure the routing of the Data GW to only communicate over the ExR.
Hi - Could you please share some technical insights on how to get Express Route working with On-prem gateway? Appreciate any details.
Thank you!!

Yes
Is this still a reality?
If customer have Express Route setup do we still require the data gateway to access on-premises datasources?
Additionally, we Express Route do I need to use Private Link to avoid using the internet access?
