Hello community!
I have created a report based on a locally saved Excel file (A) and now published on to the service.
On the Longer run.. there will be different excel files say B, C, D, ... so on..
All the columns are going to remain the same for all of the excel files.
Now I want to empower others in my team to just change the data source on PBI servise so that the report is based on the changed data source..
How can I do that?
Thanks
Hari

Hi @Anonymous,
Do you want users to be able to choose their own data sources?
In this case, you can get data from folder and do as the following steps:
1.Get data from folder
2.Click to transform data:
Combine files:
Then you can change data source with slicer:
If you still have some question, please don't hesitate to let me known.

Hi! It might be interesting how do you think this will change. If this is something for each user or for all users in a workspace. There are parameters to handle those kind of changes at different levels. Example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnaDJkGOmIE
This video show how to change sources in desktop without editing power query coding once it's implemented. It's just a parameter. That report published on Service will have a parameter too that will change if someone change it and refresh it. The difference is that the Service version will change for all users with access to check it. The change in Desktop is for the current user.
If non of those make sense, you might be able to just apend/union all the excel files in a folder with Power Bi and make a visual slicer to change between files adding a new column to differenciate them.
I hope any of those make sense.
Happy to help!
