Login window appears each time the excel query are opened

Hi everyone,

I have encountered an issue that window login appears each time when I open excel query for auto-refresh. As such, is there a way to get rid of the window login?

If no, is there a way to auto-refresh excel query without opening the file so that powerbi dataset will reflected the latest.

Thanks.

Hi, @Ivy_KK

Thanks for your detail description and reply. We may understand that you need to refresh automatically at the time of EXCEL file closure. OneDrive/SharePoint Refresh is where changes are made to Excel on OneDrive/SharePoint, then OneDrive checks Excel for changes and then updates it about every hour. You can click the link below to learn more about OneDrive Refresh.

If we want to update the dataset when the Excel file is closed, we can try to use the Power Automate, set a trigger for SharePoint/OneDrive file changes or file closure. With this trigger, trigger a power BI refresh.

Hi, @Ivy_KK

I'm happy to answer your questions. If you want to get rid of the Login window, here's an idea: Try to invoke EXCEL's API to get EXCEL QUERY. See the EXCEL API document for details.

Here are two ways to make the Power BI dataset react to the latest content: upload EXCEL files to OneDrive or SharePoint. Use EXCEL files in power bi dataset whose source is OneDrive or SharePoint. OneDrive will check for changes every hour or so.

If the excel is connected with the external data source, the data will not refreshed automatially in the requsted time interval as the excel file is closed. In such case, I have already saved the excel file in Onedrive and connect source to Onedrive link, but the updates in the dataset does not refresh to the latest also.

In such case, is there a way to address the isuse.
