dimension table wild card

Hi,

I have a group of manufacturers that fit into three categories:

Buying Group

Preferred

"All Others"

Right now, my dimension table has vendors in categories 1 and 2.  Is there a way to designate any manufacturer that isn't in category 1 or 2 as "other Manufactuer?"  Right now, they show up in my report is blank because they aren't listed specifically in my dimension table.

Thank you!

@gellismyers -

You need to create the table that has the same columns as your dimension table.

Then, for each column, add values which indicate that it's Unknown or N/A.

One way you can accomplish this is with Enter Data:

Add Data.PNG

Cheers!

Nathan

@gellismyers - In Power Query M script, you could use Table.InsertRows to add a default row to your dimension table.

More interface-friendly way, also in Power Query: Add a new table with your single row, then Append it to your dimension table.

Sorry.  I can't find any good info on this online.  What would my single row table look like?

Thank you

Great, thank you.  I will give it a shot.

Cheers,

Geoff

Okay, I will do a little research to figure out how to do that.  I am a relatively new user but I've learned a lot.

Thanks a ton!
