Unable to open Power BI desktop

Hi all,

I got a new computer recently. On this computer, I cannot open Power BI easily as this issue comes out almost every time I open the Power BI desktop. The only solution I found useful is to restart the computer. Then I can open one power bi file. However, after I close one file and want to open I another one, I cannon open it again. bug.PNG

HI @hill,

It sounds like a specific device issue of power bi desktop data model(Analysis service tabular) initialization. What version of power bi desktop are you used? Any software environment difference between the two devices? Can you please share more details information about this issue? (e.g. event log, power bi desktop logs)

Hi, this is the version of Power BI

Version: 2.88.1385.0 64-bit (December 2020)

HI @hill,

I update my desktop to the same version that you used, but I can't reproduce your scenario.

Any specific policy and firewall rules existed on your device? (they may block power bi process) What version of the system are you tested?

BTW, how much idle memory resources remained when you test to open the power bi desktop?

Regards,

Xiaoxin Sheng

Hello @hill
Go to the power bi desktop icon and right-click and go to properties.
Select the compatibility and select "Run this program as an administrator". Apply the changes and check.

@hill , What is the version of Power BI. Have installed it from the Windows store or you downloaded and installed it?
