Hi folks,
I'm trying to compare two dates (RECEIVED_DATE vs NEED BY DATE in format dd-mm-yy) and assess whether RECEIVED_DATE occured in the prior months or future months.
I previously used the following but encountered problems when a need by date was set to Dec-2016 and Received date Jan-2017 (only looking at the month, Jan is prior to Dec yet this transaction was after).
Month Received = IF(DATE(MONTH('Receipts & Overdues'[RECEIVED_DATE])<MONTH('Receipts & Overdues'[NEED BY DATE / PROMISED DATE]),"Month(s) Early",IF(MONTH('Receipts & Overdues'[RECEIVED_DATE])=MONTH('Receipts & Overdues'[NEED BY DATE / PROMISED DATE]),"Correct Month","Month(s) Late"))
I assume the solution is to include the year in the consideration but I'm not able to do it. Does anyone have a clever idea?
As a side note, this is my first post and thank you to everyone for all the contributions, I've solved so many problems thanks to you!

Got it, I used the DATEDIFF function and converted the result in Prior, Current and Next 🙂
