You've exceeded the capacity limit for dataset refreshes

Data source error: You've exceeded the capacity limit for dataset refreshes. Try again when fewer datasets are being processed.

We have total 16 datasets per 75 workspaces. what would be the best approach we need to follow for powerBi import mode refresh schedules .we need the dataset to be refreshed every 30 minutes

We are also getting this error message this morning.  OK that is great. we are exceeding our capacity limit.  OK so what is that limit?  How do we measure how close to the limit we are?  What tools does Microsoft Provide to measure this?

This is like driving on the highway getting pulled over by the cops and them saying "You are driving over the speed limit" and you ask them "what is the speed limit?"  but they say  "We can't tell you that.    But currently you are over the limit, drive slower until we stop telling you that you are over the limit. "

This is madness.  If Microsoft has a limit on refreshes it needs to be CLEARLY DEFINED what that limit is.  And customers need a way to measure that speed limit.   Please do not refer me to the Fabric Capacity Metrics template power bi report.  That report doesn't help at all, and furthermore its performance is pathetic and unusable you spend most of the time watching the hourglass every time you modify any visual.

Microsoft please give us a spedometer and a speed limit sign.  You can't implement limits and not give us a way to manage the usage.

Hi. The error means the capacity might be overloaded at that time. If you want to work with many datasets at the same time you have to make sure the data model is well done, best practices involved. You can also make sure you downsize it with all practices: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/guidance/import-modeling-data-reduction

Once all that is done check how time it takes to refresh. Analyze the refresh times of the capacity to make sure there isn't one single time that is refreshing 90% of the datasets. Maybe you can do it every 30 minutes except the time that are refreshing alot of them. Also talk with users to check if it's really neccesary the 30 minutes or if it's just because "they want". It's not very frequent the scenario.

If you have done all that and still having the error, you might want to consider incremental refresh to reduce the refreshes at the data models in order to avoid the overload.

At the end of the day if any of that works, you might need to increase the capacity.

I hope that helps,
