Scenario :
A shared dataset of size 2 gb sits in a central workspace in Premium PBI service SKU P1 and is available for report developers to build reports
Questions:
When 5 Report users access a shared dataset to build 5 reports using Live connection on Power BI desktop with Power BI pro license , will 2gb data be downloaded into each report developers PBI desktop during report development ?
When the Report development is complete with no filters being applied to data and 5 Reports are uploaded in Powerbi workspace will the size of each report be 2gb ?
Solved! Go to Solution.
For a live report you are connected to the live data-source, hence you are pointing to the data-source not downloading

@ribisht17 Thanks for the response. When we connect to the shared dataset from Power bi desktop the model is loaded with metadata only and no data is loaded in the Power BI (pbix ) file If thats what you meant ?
So there is no data cachining in Power BI desktop report (pbix ) for the visuals which are using the data from shared dataset?
Even with import 2GB remains 2GB when you are using shared data-set,
Regards,
Ritesh
