Semantic model in a PPU workspace, Reports are on PRO workspaces

Hello,

Is the below set up possible?

  • Semantic model in a PPU workspace (that contain models larger than 2GB)
    • Semantic Model developers with PPU licences are added here
  • Reports are in Pro workspaces, making cross workspace connections to the semantic models in the above PPU workspace
    • Report users with Pro licences are added here

The advantage of this set up (if this is meant to work) is that only report and model developer need PPU licences. Report viewers do not need to have PPU licences.

Is this set up meant to work? I am keen to hear from people who have already implemented this set up.

Hi @Surm2

When you use a Pro license to open a report that a user with a PPU license placed in a Pro workspace, the following information is prompted.

Hi @aj1973 ,

The set up in the link you posted is different to the set up I have described in my post. Please check whether you can understand that the architectural difference. Happy to explain if this is not clear to you. I am not asking whether users who only have Pro licence can open reports stored in PPU workspaces.

The key difference is that in the set up I have described above, users who do not have PPU licence and only have Pro licence connect to reports stored in "Pro" workspaces.

Pro Workspace = A shared Workspace for Pro licenses and PPU Licenses

PPU Workspace = A capacity workspace = Premium Workspace for only PPU Licences.

The cross-workspace is not possible.

Hope the picture is now clear.

@aj1973 ,

What do you mean by "...The cross-workspace is not possible"? Where/how does it stop from copying the report to a non-PPU workspace? Do you mean to say the below "Save a copy" will not copy a report from PPU to a Pro workspace?
