Security Groups on Admin Portal settings not applying correctly

Hi Everyone,

 

We are trying to restrict certain permissions in the admin portal, so that only a couple of users can do things like publish to web or download the reports. So, we set up a secuirty group with myself and a couple of these users in.

However, when I go to enable a setting to only this specific secuirty group (which I'm defintiely in) like this:

It removes the ability for me to do these things (e.g. download a report), even though I am deifnitely in this group as an owner. The only way I can get it to work for me is to enable it for the entire organisation.

 

Does anyone have any ideas why this wouldn't work for me? I am defintiely logged in with the same Microsoft account that is in the security group.

 

Any help will be MUCH appreciated!

Hi  @HelenBrunyee ,

 

As far as I know, if you apply a user to a tenant setup in the Admin portal by adding a security group, the user is expected to be applied the settings but the setting may need to be applied after 15 minutes, so my opinion is that you might consider waiting twenty minutes to refresh the page, log back in to your account, and test "Download." Report" function is enabled for you.

If it is convenient, you can also check whether the report you downloaded before you enabled the security group enable function and the report downloaded after that are the same report, which can also help us identify and narrow down the problem, because as far as I know, the "Download report" function also has some restrictions, and the "Download report" option is not enabled in the first place under certain conditions.

Thank you so much for getting back to me on this one!

 

It's defintely not the first option. I have logged out & back in multiple times over the course of the last few weeks, but the isue still persists unfortunately.

 

I'm not 100% sure what you mean on the latter. The report is defintiely the same ones (although this problem is effecting ALL reports). The download report function works unless I have the security group applied, so it seems to be something to do with this setting int he admin portal?
