We run into an annoying phenomenon. It turns out that scheduling automatically stops if it fails after 4 attempts. Is there a configuration somewhere that we can set to prevent this? For example, last week we had a situation where a dashboard was not refreshed unnoticed and that the business was working with "old" data without them or us noticing.

This is by design that scheduled refresh will get disabled after 4 failures, it was posted few years back in dea forum too where same thing was mentioned, you can have a look at it,

Though you or users can get a failure mail in case there is a failure in dataset refresh if you pass on the mail ids here:
