Q&A/Synonym functionality with Direct Lake Semantic Models

Good Day

We are currently assessing options of moving our Import Mode Semantic Model to a Direct Lake model.

I noticed that Synonyms or related Q&A functionality does not exist in a Lake Semantic Model.

Is my conclusion correct and is this something that Microsoft is/should be working towards?

I could not find this on the Fabric roadmap

Thanks in advance

Hi,@jonocrotz,I am glad to help you.

According to your description, you believe that the Q&A functionality is currently unavailable for Direct Lake Semantic Model, and I think your suspicion may be correct.

Regarding the limitations of the Q&A feature, the following configurations of data sources in the power BI service are currently supported.

Import mode

Live connect to Azure Analysis Services

Live connect to SQL Server Analysis Services (with a gateway)

Power BI semantic models
And in each of these configurations, row-level security is also supported.

Here's the relevant official documentation I looked up.

Thank you very much for your suggestions on power BI features, the Power BI team values user feedback and suggestions for improvement.

Here's my test, I created a directlake as you described, created a semantic model and a report in it, and did not find the Q&A function to select after I added the visual pin from the report to the newly created dashboard.

Q&A function is available in Import  mode

Carson Jian,
