While installaing Power BI personal gateway as a part of self learning, I am getting the below error while signing in after installation. I had earlier installed 'On premises data gateway (recommended)' version and then uninstalled it to install 'On premises data gateway (personal mode)', and facing this error. Is there a way to rectify this?

Hi @RoopaC,
Have you checked your device policy and network status? In addition, you can also take a look at below documents about gateways:

HI Xiaoxin,
Thank you. I have gone through the documents that you shared but couldn't find any solution for this error. I was able to install and signin when I wrongly installed the recommended version than personal gateway version. So I am assuming that the organisational policies are all OK. Problem arose when I uninstalled and reinstalled personal version. May be something to do with system files which are created in the first installation but not sure what is causing the issue.
Hi @RoopaC,
>>May be something to do with system files which are created in the first installation but not sure what is causing the issue.
AFAIK, you can install both two versions of gateways on same device without any compatibility issue, so this issue should not related to uninstalling.
According to your description, it sounds like you can install a personal gateway successful but you can't sign in the same account that you test with on-premise version?
If this is a case, I'd like to suggest you use fiddler to trace sign-in operations to confirm it these requests sent/received succeeded. (e.g. policy, ports, firewall rules...)
Fiddler - Free Web Debugging Proxy - Telerik
BTW, can you confirm your test account has enough permissions to operate on this device? Have you tested with an admin account?
