Hi,
We are embedding our Power BI reports in a custom app and providing users a functionality whereby which we allow them to select the report to be embedded on their dashboards in the custom app through APIs. To extend this a little further, we are looking at ways by which we can show a chart pre-view alongside any selected Power BI report.
Is there any way - through Power BI or using APIs - I can link the report to be embedded to a thumbnail image for this to work?
If anyone has any ideas please do share! Thanks in Advance!
Hi, @Anonymous
After my research, I can only find one method that may roughly help you to achieve this, you can take a look:
You could make your own simply screen shooting the report then use Paint etc. to shrink the image. Embed this reduced image in the web page you are using and then link it to the report using the normal method of embedding a report (i.e. set the link using the URL for the report).
More info about this original case
If this method can’t meet your requirement, you can go to the Power BI Idea to submit a new idea so that others with the same idea can vote for you. I will also vote for you.😁

Hi @v-robertq-msft ,
Thank you for your response.
I came across the scenario as well but my requirement is a little different. We have given the users ability to select the report to embed in a custom app dashboard and what we are looking for is a thumbnail to be generated once they select the report to depict what kind of visual it is.
Will go ahead and submit an idea if not able to achieve.
Thanks!
