Deployment pipeline from a Pro Workspace to Premium Capacity Workspace

Is it possible to set up deployment pipelines that take from pro workspaces and deploy to production in a premium capacity workspace?

Asking because we have some developers around the business from different departments that would like to take advantage of premium capacity. They currently operate with pro licenses in pro workspaces.

The pro license limitations (e.g., 1gb dataset) are great in this regard, as this provides some insurance to our team that it hopefully won't affect the capacity too much.

So, instead of getting them develop stuff in premium capacity - is it possible for them to continue work in pro and then use pipelines to bring over to Premium capacity?

Thanks

Hi @Morkil ,

Yes, it is possible to set up deployment pipelines in Power BI that take from Pro workspaces and deploy to production in a Premium capacity workspace. This can be done using the Power BI REST API or the Power BI PowerShell cmdlets. The deployment process can be automated using Azure DevOps or other CI/CD tools. However, it's important to note that there are some limitations when moving content from a Pro workspace to a Premium capacity workspace. For example, some features that are available in Pro workspaces may not be available in Premium capacity workspaces. Additionally, there may be differences in performance and functionality between the two types of workspaces. It's also worth noting that while using Pro licenses in Pro workspaces provides some insurance against capacity issues, moving to a Premium capacity workspace can provide additional benefits such as increased capacity, better performance, and access to premium features.
