I have a dataflow that refreshes maybe 10% of the time during its scheduled refresh. The other 90% I get this same error:
Error: DataFormat.Error: We cannot convert the specified value to the specified type. Request ID: 2b6469b8-cc1c-44fd-a158-ff282b7ed0d0 Activity ID: 5680c258-21dd-419a-b37a-66a860ea4e9f
I have gone in and inspected all the columns to check for any weird data types, but haven't found anything unusual. I checked where the data was being pulled as well and it's all coming from tables within Salesforce. There are only 19 columns. I need this dataflow to be able to refresh consistently so my dashboards can work. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi, I know this reply is very late lol, but were you able to find a solution? I've used the Salesforce connector but I had some issues refreshing my data too. As a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:
After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:
There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor. Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.
@Anonymous
Try focus on the columns that includes multiple types like 1 column may have numerical and text value, these columns could be the issues.

@Anonymous that is not much information to go on, can you provide some more details...
How many queries are in the data model?
What type of data connection are they (Direct or Import)?
Can you go to the dataset settings, scheduled refresh, and click history to see a list of failures. On the failure, click the details column to get the entire error report.
If this helped, I would appreciate a Kudos! If this resolves the issue, please mark it as a Solution! 🙂 |
