Dashboard permissions

Hi,

We are currently publishing our work via Dashboards and setting the staff permissions from there. We ideally don't want users to view the reports or semantic models. Is there are a way of switching off the access to the reports and models but not the dashboards? I have noticed when staff click on the background of the dashabord page they get automatically sent to the report. We don't want this to happen.

Alternatively, if this is not possible, how do we switch off the ability to export the data and download the report in the reports, to prevent the data from being shared?

Many thanks for your help.

Lucy

@lucy_wilshaw ,
To avoid users from exporting a visual's data, you can simply go to the visual's Format -> General -> Header Icons -> Disable "More Options"

Also, to avoid users from accessing the underlying data, you can simply provide just the report's read access to the users without adding them to the workspace.

Hi,@lucy_wilshaw

Apart from the above mentioned ways, you can also try the following ways:

1. Create a subscription to the dashboard and restrict the user's rights, in this way you can not only restrict their access to the current dashboard but also realize that the user receives new dashboard information on a regular basis.

Here is the relevant documentation:
Email subscriptions for reports and dashboards in the Power BI service - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

2. If you wish to disable export or download for a user, you can do so in the admin portal if you are an administrator.

3.You can also turn off the following Settings when sharing links:

Same with the report:

would it make sense to rather publish this as an app?  that way you can just give them  view access to the app, not the report directly, and that way they dont need wworkspace access
