Connect Application to Power BI for reporting

We have a requirement to provide reporting functioanlity from an internal app.

User logs into app selects a reporting module

Selects the Report type

Selects Date range

A report is generated and sent to user. This could be a report, PDF, dashboard, link, other

Data is stored in SQL server 

I am interested in how this could be acheived through Power BI Cloud

A high level diagram with components involved and any security keys that would be required to access the data. I would also need to understand the licenses required and any capacity nodes that might be required

In reality what i want to create is a reporting Service using power BI where we can replicate the solution across any apps we build.

i am a complete novice with Power BI so i've tried to word the request as gneric as i can make it and as if i were an idiot.

I may not have been clear on my original ask and the requirements that drive it.

We have any application where external users log in and create an expenses claim. The business also use this application to process the claims and decide whether to pay the claims. Data on the claims status and payment information is stored in an azure db.

The business have a requirment to be able to report on claims and payments from the applications by selectings Reports> Report type eg outstanding claims> entering date range.

So What i have learnt to date. I need to create a Workspace on a Capacity Node. From there I can create a dataset that sources data from the Azure Db. I create the reports I need and any dahsboards from the Dataset. I can then create an app that contains the reports/ Dashboards that can be distrubuted to the consumers of the report.

What I would like to understand is how i can integrate the trigger from the application that will the report that they have requested.

Any ideas on this ?
