Cannot connect datamart to on premises data using the On-premises data gateway (Personal mode)

Hi,

I am trying to create a new data mart connected to my on premise SQL Server.

I have set up the on premises data gateway in personal mode and logged in with the same credentials that I use for the Power Bi service.

I can see the gateway in the Poer Bi Service and can connect a normal dataset uploaded through Power Bi Desktop throught the gateway.

When I create a new datamart and enter the same server and database as the dataset is conected to, it does not display any available gateways. If I chose Sign In and sign in with the same organisational account as I used to set up the gateway and sign in to the Power Bi service I get the error seen on the attached screenshot.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi. That's weird. Let me ask you. Which license are you using in there? I'm asking because if you don't have the correct license or the Gen2 of capacity, it will let you create and it will always fail when getting data.

Please consider using a Gateway in standard mode and not personal.

I am using the Premium Per User License which should be the right one for datamarts.

Hi. Just in case I'll write this limitation:

• Data sources behind a VNET or using private links can't currently be used with datamarts; to work around this limitation you can use an on-premises data gateway.

Now regarding the issue. The licence is correct. Even though the doc doesn't specify this, I think the personal gateway is not an option for this. Can you try configuring a Standard mode for the gateway? because the way it work and it let you add sources, that one should work.
