Can't enter email contact for Send refresh failure notifications

I have an account that has been granted admin access to my client's Power BI Service so I can publish and manage power BI reports. Everything works OK - I can upload reports, configure dataset permissions and gateways.

However, I need to add a client's email address to Send refresh failure notifications to contact for a dataset's refresh schedule.

But when I enter their valid email, I get this message: One or more email addresses could not be validated

Is there an issue where an external account (like my account) can't enter/validate emails that exist in the client's tenant? Is there a setting somewhere that needs to be enabled?

Hi @TomShanley

When you are an external user in another customers Power BI tenant, you cannot pick users from there. Active directory. They will have to do that themselves. The reason for this is that your external account does not have the required permissions in their Azure Active Directory

Thanks Gilbert

They can't do that, as my account manages the dataset, and so they can't change those settings on the refresh.

Is there a workaround to this?

Hi @TomShanley

You will have to let your customer take over the semantic model (Dataset) and then they can add in their email.

I tried that, but the email was cleared when I took back control of the dataset.
