Can't access/login my Power BI service account after my phone was reset to factory settings

Account setup:

  • My Power BI service account is enabled for MFA; I believe this is the default setting when the account is created
  • The registered is my my own domain.email (non-Gmail/outlook, etc...) with the account
  • This same email is admin as well.
  • The Authenticator app was set up on my phone, linked to the above email.
  • I did not switch on the backup because I was not even aware of it, and it's non-mandatory (I don't know why Microsoft has kept it non-mandatory!!)

The problem:

  • My phone screen went bad and needed a repair; the phone was reset to factory setting. All data and app (including Authenticator) was wiped off
  • Now when I try to publish a report  from Power BI Desktop, it asks me to login
  • When I try to log in using my email  and password, it asks to approve in the Authenticator app. I installed Authenticator on my phone again and used the same email and password, but it asks me to approve in Authenticator (catch-22 situation)
  • I don't see an option while login where; a security code can be sent to my phone or email.. This is the most strange part because all services like Google dohave this option in case app  can't be used.

Question:

  • Is there any way to recover my account? I searched online, and Microsoft suggests...
    • Reset access through admin, but the problem is that the same email is admin as well
    • Fill up a recovery form, but when I proceed, it says this form will work only if there is no MFA setup (but MFA is enabled by default)
  • In case I needs to re-create my account (loosing all data in my Power BI service) using the same email address, how do I do that?

Any help will be great.

thx.
