Hello,
For several days, I am trying to solve a problem I face with power bi when I am trying to connect in direct query on our http pump sever (http://cube.xxx.com/OLAP/msmdpump.dll). If I am changing mode from to "Import" - connection successful.
The live connection to our pump works without issue in Tableau and Excel, but not in Power BI. The import option works in Power BI Desktop though.
Our SSAS server is "independent instance", not in any domain, but there configured connection throw HTTP data pump link (msmdpump.dll) and created few local windows account (which are added to the SSAS roles as members and used for connection to the CUBE in EXcel)
Please, Any tips on how to resolve this ?
Hi @mkdib,
Is Power BI desktop installed on the same machine as Tableau and Excel?
Which error occurs when you connect live to SSAS via Http dump?
Please check if you hit the same issue as this thread: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Using-HTTP-data-pump-msmdpump-dll-leads-to-can-t-display-vi...
By the way, please try to run the latest Power BI desktop version.
Best Regards,
Qiuyun Yu
Thanks for your reply.
Yes the Power BI desktop is installed p, the same machine as Tableau and Excel.
I use the last version of Power BI so it is not a problem of an old version of Power BI.
Here is the error I get when I am trying the direct Connection :
As I said before, the same configuration works with Tableau and Excel and with the import Option from Power BI Desktop.
Unfortunately, our problem seems to be different from your suggested link. Our problem is similar to this.
BR,
Hi @mkdib,
I would suggest you create a support ticket to Microsoft to get dedicated support.
