Assume, you have installed the Oracle drivers (if not, a bunch of to do list - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/reporting-services/report-data/oracle-connection-type-ssrs?view...

  • Install the software "Oracle Client" / Drivers
  • Configuration for the database (tnsnames.ora).
  • Ping the oracle server from PBIRS server
  • Use the username and password to access the database.
  • Optional: RDP to PBIRS and use the Power BI Desktop of PBIRS version and try to make connection

Typical connection string in the data source

DATA SOURCE=<Data source name>

Optional: You can also try the below in the connection string:

Data Source= (DESCRIPTION= (ADDRESS= (PROTOCOL=TCP) (HOST=<HOSTNAME>) (PORT=1521))
(CONNECT_DATA= (SERVICE_NAME=<SERVICENAME>) ) )
