I need to embed the existing dashboard in my web and mobile app. I want to ensure users have access to only their own information (using RLS I believe) and also users can access the dashboard when they are logged into my web or mobile app. Before I check the documentation I'll like to know, Is this possible with Power bi report server? How can I go about it?
The recommended way of accessing an on-prem Report Server from a mobile app would be to use Azure Application Proxy - see Access on-prem Report Server from your Power BI Mobile app with Azure Active Directory Application P...
thank @d_gosbell but the mobile app I am referring to here is not Power BI mobile app but rather a customer mobile app I built myself on a javascript framework, also the same with the web app. I just want to embed my existing dashboard on these apps. But I want the dashboard's RLS to work in sync with the authentication of the web apps."Once user log in to my web app the dashboard only shows their own data".
Yes, but the concept is the same whether it's the Power BI mobile app or something custom. Report Server is typically installed on-prem behind corporate firewalls and not accessible to web/mobile apps. Using the Azure Application Proxy is a way of giving the on-prem Report Server a publicly addressable endpoint without putting the server itself on the public internet.
