null formula not working?

Hi there,

I am trying to add a conditional column where if the column value is blank, it will return me a "Y" value while if it is not blank, it will return me a "N".

I believe the formula I am using was working for me before but it is no longer working for me now.

Anyone experiencing the same issue? Or anyone able to spot what I did wrong?

@xiuqinglim20 "blank" is not null. You have "" over there. So working expression is if [Column1] = "" then "Y" else "N".

Hi @AlienSx,

Thank you for responding! I have tried your suggestion but it does not seem to work for me 😞

I believe Column1 is indeed blank. What I did in PQ editor was to Enter Data and then I left Column1 blank

I have screen recorded the steps I did in below video:

@xiuqinglim20 "blank" is not null. You have "" over there. So working expression is if [Column1] = "" then "Y" else "N".

Hi, @xiuqinglim20 apparently [Column1] <> null otherwise you would see null in PQ editor in Column1. Something is in there - maybe space (" "). Try this formula:

each if List.Contains({null, " "}, [Column1]) then "Y" else "N"

Just find out what is in Column1.
