Power Bi On Premise Gateway connection issues

Hello,

we have a PC dedicated to reporting and hosting our On Premise Gateway for Power BI. However it keeps signing my user out automatically for some reason. And he has to keep going in and resigning into the app.

Could someone help me here? Here is a log i took for this around the time of the most recent issue:

1. run `net localgroup "Performance Log Users" /add "POWER\corbin.nelson"` to grant ETW logging permissions to the gateway user.
2. restart the gateway

1. Don't use a Personal Gateway.  Procure a VM (better two or more) that are online 24x7 and install Enterprise Gateway.

2. Don't mess with the logins.  Use the standard service account and leave it alone.  Nobody needs to be logged in for the gateway service to run.

Howdy.

Thanks for that info! Quick question, do you know if the "Refresh A Dataset" action in power automate would replace the need for an on premise gateway? just exploring my options!

Thanks!

no, it will not.  Gateways are required for all on-premise data sources (and cloud data sources if you make the unfortunate choice to try and merge them in any way)
