sameperiodlastyear working in table but not in matrix

Hi

I ran into a strange problem. I get the "..Contigious Selection" error. I am showing a measure : 

SumAmount LY = Calculate([SumAmount], SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR('Date'[Date] ) )

and a date column in the same Matrix visual. 

When I change it to a Table is works?? Even if I move my date field to the first position in the rows it works. 

Why is it not working and how to fix it? 

I do use a proper Date Table so that is not the issue.

I have.. it is in a normal Calendar table with a row per date. What is really puzzling me is that it works on a table but not a matrix.
