I got my report done with 2 sources
1 SQL database
1 local excel file
my need is just to refresh the sql database, but I can't since the file local excel, powerbi automatic refresh doesn't find the file....
can I exclude the excel from refresh and refresh just the SQL database data source?

@snifer ,
I'm afraid schedule refresh is implemented on the whole dataset, not the separated data source. If one of the datasource hasn't been configured correctly(e.g.: gateway), the refresh will fail. You may create two different report based on excel and sql server and refresh them seperately.

so there is no way to say to powerBI in query mode just to import this excel file and keep like that without refreshing?
@snifer ,
Yes, so I would suggest you to create two datasets and configure schedule refresh to the database.
