changing web data source (raw github) data not reloading in desktop

I have certain queries where where I have updated the web source (raw github link) and tried to refresh but it will not reload the data when I look at the "source" step of the query and view a preview of the table. However if I create a brand new separate query with that web source link it loads all the data fine. How can I resolve this in Power bi desktop?

I am guessing if it not updating even when i try to force it in desktop there is also little chance of it working in the service.

Well that last part is true. Can you paste some Advanced Editor code and the error you are getting?
