Year on Year calculations in Power BI

Hi,

I've been using Power BI for a couple of weeks now. Really like it, but can't get my head around year on year calculations. I've created a table that shows YOY variance (value and %) by day using 'SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR'. Seems fine, but I can't work out how to show as total month or chart this, or show the % value as a % (Keeps showing '0)'. Any pointers? I have an example pbix file to upload but can't work out how to upload it! VERY frustrating!

Thanks

Pete

Hi,

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask this question? I've been using Power BI for a couple of weeks now and have got on with it well, until I tried to create Year on Year variances!

I've managed to create a table in Power BI showing YOY change by invoice date (value and %), but I can't figure out how to graph this or change the % column to actual percentages, or change invoice date to month or financial year. Whatever I try seems to show zero change? Can any body provide some pointers please? I have the pbix file I'm using, but can't figure out how to link it here.

HELP!!!!

Pete

@Chalklands1  Pete it probably has to do with Filter Context. If you juse put your measure(s) into a Card visual then there is no filter context and it will look at all your data.  So you probably need to write a mesure where you use a CALCULATE with Filter(s) to define one that the measure can calculate within to show in your card.

To post a sample file you need to post in a public sharing service One Drive, Google Drive, Drop Box or whatever and then sahre a post a link to the shared file.

Thanks!

Share your pbix file with google drive or onedrive and will look into it.
