I have a date column that I am using in a matrix but it doesn't allow me to split it into day/week/year. Ideally, I would like my end user to be able to see the stepped values. From past experiene if I put in a date column it automatically detects the day week month quarter and year. I have checked the data type is set to date.
Not sure if it matters - I have the date in rows and measures for values.

Hmm, well before they added that feature we used to just create colums like:
Year = YEAR([Date]) Month = MONTH([Date]) Day = DAY([Date])
And put them in the matrix Rows area as an ad-hoc hierarchy.
