Slicer visuals have a Show "Select all" option as well as a Single select option.
However, when Single select is activated, the Show "Select all" option disappears.
Is there a way to have BOTH Single select activated, and a Select all option that is selected by default? Users should only be able to select 1, but without user input the slicer shouldn't be filtering anything at all, i.e. Selecting all.

A simple workaround that I found is creating a slicer hierarchy and making it single select. To do so I added an extra column to the table with the value "All" for all rows, then in the slicer fields I have this extra column and the original column. I wouldn't say it's the most beautiful looking thing, but it works. I hope that makes sense 🙂
For anyone waiting with bated breath for any updates, I have found another workaround which is cleaner and more flexible. It requires creating a lookup table and having a many-to-many relationship (if those are deal-breakers then feel free to stop reading).
In my example I am using Ofsted data, you can achieve a slicer like the below:
The column in the fact table which I want to filter on contains four values: Outstading, Good, Requires Improvement, Inadequate.
The lookup table looks like below. The fact table column has a many-to-many relationship with the 'OE1' column in the lookup table. The OE1Group column is used in the slicer. Sort by columns were necessary for my purposes.
The fact table contains c. 130k rows and the performance of the slicer is reasonable, though the many-to-many relationship and associated performance impact might be a significant consideration if you have a bigger data model.
@Anonymous , select all do not work with a single select. You can log an idea.
This is the idea where it was delivered
