Short Month Name

Hello i have a calendar table with short month names such as Apr, May, Jun etc. 

 

is there a method to have A, M, J etc instead and ensure the order stays correct.

 

issue I can see is there is a J for June and a J for July

Hi,

Sure there is. You can do this 1. in your Date table or 2. with an additional mini-table

1. In your Date table you should have at least one additional column where you get the 1st letter of the month. You can do this with the below:

Month Letter:= LEFT([Month], 1)

The above assumes you have a column called Month, wher eall the months are listed. You should also have another column which can be ordered as you want. For example [YearMonth] - 202401, 202402, 202403 and so on.

Then, in your report you add the Month Letter instead of Month, add the YearMonth to the Filter sectiona and then sort it by YearMonth

 

2. You create a mini-table with 3 columns: one for Month name, one for Month letter and one for Month order and fill them in accordingly. You then create a relationship between this table and your Date table, and then do the same actions as above with adding the Month letter etc...

first for dates use 
Month number = month(Date(Date))
As shown below

Then click on month and then sort it by Month Number as shown below
