Sharing and collaborating on dashboard with restricted access

Hello there !

First of all sorry by advance if this question has already been asked, but I can't find an answer wich suits with my actual issue.

My company wants to use Power BI within the organisation, to share Dashboards to inside person (people who work there) and to external person (suppliers or client). The first point is easy to solve, we'll create a work group and share dashbords on it, but the second point is more tricky.

None of our clients or suppliers use Power BI, but we still want them to see a custom dashboard for each of them, showing their statistics such as cashflows between specific supplier. So we want them to interact with the content but we obviously don't want them to get access to competitors' data, and we don't want to force them to get a Power BI Pro account. Therefore is there a possibility to share a secured and locked dashbord to non-Power Bi users ? We have more than 400 suppliers and 200 regular clients, so it's really not an option to convince all of them to get Power BI.

Thanks by advance

Hi @tdurieux,

You can publish the report to web, and share the link to them. On a report in your workspace that you can edit, select File > Publish to web. You will create a embed code, then share the link to them.

After you create your Publish to web embed code and share it, the report is updated with any changes you make. Data refreshes are automatically reflected in your embedded report or visual. It can take approximately 1 hour for refreshed data to be visible from embed codes. You can disable automatic refresh by selecting do not refresh on the schedule for the dataset used by the report.

But there are some limitations for 'Publish to web', please see the Limitations in the article.

Best Regards,
Angelia

Thanks Angelia ! That could be a great solution since we have a web portal dedicated to our clients and suppliers. The article is quite good but I just miss one small information.

All of them (clients and suppliers) need to log-in in the portal to get to their private space, do you think we can publish a specific dashboard for each of them on their private space ? As I said we don't want all of them to get access to the same dashboard, because we don't want them to see their competitors' data...

Thanks by advance

Hi @tdurieux,

'Publish to web' feature is only used to report rether than dashbord. You can punlish different reports and get different links, so that you can share corresponding links to clients or suppliers.

Best Regards,
Angelia
