Select entry in table and view more info?

I have a projects data table with approx 50 fields.

In page 1 of my dashboard i have a table visual that shows 8 fields from this projects table.

Is it possible to click on an entry on this table and then open up another report page (eg Project Detail page) that will be filtered to that row?

Yes, in Power BI, you can set up a report so that clicking on an entry in a table visual on one page can navigate to another page that filters to details relevant to the selected item. This is achieved using the Drillthrough feature in Power BI. Here’s how you can set it up:

1. Create a Drillthrough Page: Design a new page in your report that will serve as the Project Detail page. This page will show detailed information about a project.

2. Add Drillthrough Filter: On your Project Detail page, add a drillthrough filter. This is done by dragging the field you want to use for filtering (like Project ID or Project Name) into the Drillthrough filters pane in the visualizations pane.

3. Configure Detail Visuals: Place the visuals that will display the detailed information of the project on the Drillthrough page. Make sure these visuals use the fields that provide the detailed data you want to showcase.

4. Navigate from Main Page: Go back to the main page (Page 1) where you have the table. When you click on a row in the table, right-click and select “Drillthrough” and then choose your Project Detail page. If configured correctly, Power BI will filter the data on the detail page based on the selection made on the main page.

5. Optimize User Experience: To make navigation intuitive, consider adding a back button on the Project Detail page, which users can click to return to the main page or previous page.

By setting this up, when users interact with the table on the main page, they can drill through to the Project Detail page with context-specific data loaded based on their selection. This makes for a very interactive and user-friendly report.
