SUM or SUMX with start date value

I'm sure this will be straight forward, can someone tell me to add a start date to a SUM or SUMX measure please?  I'm calculating total sales from 1st August 2023.  I can find 'dates between' but not with just a start from.

My date table is 'Dates FY'

Many thanks in advance.

CALCULATE( SUM( 'Sales'[Column name]), 'sales'[date column] >= 01/08/2023)

I've found this isn't filtering my dates, is there anything else it might be?

Is your actual closed date data in date format?
