I have Table1 with two fields.
Need to create a running total for a line chart, covering several years.
Following some tutorials, if I create a Quick Measure on the amount:
But this gives me the wrong result:
Have tried a few combinations, but not quite as easy as I was hoping.
amount running total in Month =
CALCULATE(
SUM('Table1'[amount]),
FILTER(
CALCULATETABLE(
SUMMARIZE(
'Table1',
'Table1'[Close Date].[MonthNo],
'Table1'[Close Date].[Month]
),
ALLSELECTED('Table1')
),
ISONORAFTER(
'Table1'[Close Date].[MonthNo], MAX('Table1'[Close Date].[MonthNo]), DESC,
'Table1'[Close Date].[Month], MAX('Table1'[Close Date].[Month]), DESC
)
)
)
I am sure I am missing something simple? Can someone help point out where I am going wrong?
Thanks for this. I don't have control over the source data (coming from a separate business system every hour), therefore I am not sure if your solution applies as my date field is not in a separate table?
@simonGIS , Use a date table joined with your table's date to do all such calculations. The period from date should be used on axis and slicer/filter
Cumm Sales = CALCULATE([Terminated Employee],,filter(all('Date'),'Date'[date] <=max('Date'[date])))

To get the best of the time intelligence function. Make sure you have a date calendar and it has been marked as the date in model view. Also, join it with the date column of your fact/s. Refer :radacad sqlbi My Video Series Appreciate your Kudos.
