Removed Columns From My Dataset

Hello,

When I first made my report, my dataset included sensitive information. I realized it wasn't needed so I removed those columns from my excel files, but now it won't update my tables in BI saying that those columns aren't found. How can I tell it that everything is okay?

Thank you!

Steven

Hi @StevenH417 ,

When you loaded data from the excel files for the first time in Power Query, the script would have automatically detected the column names that were there in the file initially, something like

rohit_singh_0-1652978746939.png

Now once you've removed a column fom source, the next time power query tries to load the files, it will load the same query again, only this time it will not find the column in the file. Hence, the error.

You will need to navigate to the step that has the error in Power Query, and remove any reference to the deleted columns.

I suggest trying this on a copy of your original pbix so you have a backup copy.

Kind regards,

Rohit
