Hello fellow PBIers
This is more a general architecture question than a specific problem with Power BI itself.
As mentioned in the title, we have the following issue:
Our company uses Citrix workspaces - so every employee has a Citrix workspace in which he/she can log in from any desktop or mobile and then proceed to use the provided software. Furthermore we use the on premise version of Power BI, which means no usage of Power Bi in the browser. Every designer has the program on his Citrix desktop, can design reports and then publish them to an internal reporting server so everybody in the company can consume the reports.
We now want to also enable Pthon and R-Script Visuals which is a bit of a challenge because you can only use those if you have a local installation of Py/R environments. Is there any solution for this kind of situation despite installing local environments on every designer machine? Has anyone experience with a similar architecture and the resulting problem?
Thanks in advance for any ideas or feedback.
Hi @Anonymous ,
By my research, I'm afraid that there is no betters ways for your scenario.
To run R scripts /Python scripts in Power BI Desktop, you need to install R/Python on your local machine.
I'm not familar with Citrix, you may have a contact with Citrix support if there is any workaround.
Best Regards,
Cherry
