I've come across discussions stating that in Power BI Desktop's dynamic connect mode, it's not possible to connect to additional data sources. Can anyone confirm if it can still be the case that other data sources can't be added while in live connection mode (where the 'Get Data' options are grayed out)? I've searched a lot, but I haven't found confirmation of this anywhere at Microsoft.

You can convert a Live Connection to DirectQuery and add DirectQuery or Import sources. The result is a composite model (explained below). Navigate to Modeling --> Make changes to this model. There's also a link "Make changes to this model" at the bottom right of Power BI Desktop.
