Location data from Excel file is blank

In my Excel file I have a column that stores a City name but we set it up for Geography so we can get Lat/Long.  When I try to build a report in PBI from that file, it see's the column but there is no data in there.  Not even the City name we typed in.

Please check: If you have build permission of the dataset, if not, you would see such error.

Let's set aside the Geography categorisation for now.  Do you see values in the column in Data View of powerbi?

Click the dropdown in the column heading.

Are there any blank values?

All the values in the Location field are blank in the Data View of PowerBI

OK,  Can you Edit the Query and examine the same column in Power Query?

No PowerQuery.  I built the report selecting the Power BI dataset as the source.
