ISSUE: The slicer visual's format dose not have "Orientation" attribute in Power BI Desktop - March 2017.
Power BI Version: 2.44.4675.521 64-bit.
My reports using Orientation - horizontal are changed from list to slicer
Before March 2017
After March 2017
I hope to back "Orientation" attribute in format with new design.

Yoshihiro Kawabata
Solved! Go to Solution.
For the first issue, I cannot repro with your PBIX file on my side.
For the second issue, you need to turn on Header to show the display type.
Please refer to the video below.

Hi, I was facing the same issue. Turns out new version doesnt have it. Anyway I have found one way where you can get horizontal orientation in slicer.
1. Select Slicer Style : Tile
2. Now vertically shorten the slicer a little bit until you get a horizontal list automatically. (you can also try increasing value fonts)
Hope this helps. Kindly mark it as solution. Thanks
The solution I found is that the wording in the properties was changed from Horizontal to "Tile".
Version: 2.105.923.0 64-bit (May 2022)
i m coverting slicer orientation from horizontal to vertical. but there is no orientation attribute .
Thank @v-haibl-msft, and all.
I solve this issue.
1. Need Turn ON of Slicer's Header setting
for view the display type list/dowpdown, etc.
2. Need change 'list' of Slicer's display type
for view the orientation setting
thank you a video for this issue solve.
and thank all for advice .

Could you please show me how did you resolve this issue? Here I am alse getting same issue of slicer does not have orientation.
Orientation option enables only if you select number fileds.
Choose list type then select horizontal or vertical.
For the first issue, I cannot repro with your PBIX file on my side.
For the second issue, you need to turn on Header to show the display type.
Please refer to the video below.

HI @Reid_Havens
File: SlicerTest1.pbix
Locate: OneDrive
URL: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Atq5VZciuslq26t91m4LOiIh7oK6Ow
This file create from my old reports file,
which may used over several months.
Now, I'm confusing.
This file's slicer have "Orientation" property,
but does NOT have display type like list/dropdown.

Hi @yoshihirok,
Would you be able to Share a workbook where this issue occurs that I could take a look at?
Hi Reid, thank you for your reply with a video.
I find a new issue relate this issue.
ISSUE: The slicer which created before March 2017 miss the display type like list/dropdown.
Reproduce step:
1. Open a pbix file which create before Power BI Desktop March 2017, and include slicer.
2. View the report include slicer.
3. There are not the display type like list/dowpdown/etc.
Now two issue are there.
Issue 1. The slicer which create before Power BI Desktop March 2017, and set orientation - horizontal,
change the display type to "Between".
Issue 2. The slicer which create before Power BI Desktop March 2017, does not have the display type.

Yoshihiro Kawabata
Hi @yoshihirok,
So there's a few extra steps involved now that they implimented some additional features for date type fields. There is still an orientation selection, but it is hidden until you change the slicer back to a list first. I've included a video of how to do that here. Let me know if this solves the problem.
Hi @Reid_Havens thank you for your reply.
Yes, There are Orientation in "format" pane before March 2016 of Power BI Desktop.
I create some report by Orientation - Horizontal.
and, There are Orientation in Power BI Service, now.
But, There are NOT Orientation in March 2016 of Power BI Desktop.
My report automatically changed.
So, This is serious ISSUE.

Hi there,
Happy to try to assist. I've uploaded a video where you can find the orientation section of a slicer in PBI. Could you take a quick look and tell me if you can access orientation following these steps?
